AI in Business
Where AI genuinely earns its place in a growing company's operations, and where it is still an expensive demo.
Every AI consultant opens with the same line: first, get your data in order. Then they leave you to work out what that means. It is the honest part of the pitch and the part nobody helps with.
That ordering is not a formality. An AI workflow built on records that disagree with each other produces confident wrong answers faster than a person produces careful right ones. So the useful question is not which model to use. It is which of your processes are consistent enough to automate, and which need fixing before anything is pointed at them.
How we think about it
Invoice coding, document extraction, reconciliation matching, first-pass report drafting. High volume, clear right answer, cheap to check. These pay back in weeks.
A filing, a contract term, a tax position. AI drafts and flags; a named human signs. That line does not move because the tooling improved.
If month-end close takes three weeks because records are scattered, automation makes a scattered process faster, not better. Order the data first.
The only metric that matters is whether the finance team got its week back. If nobody's calendar changed, the project has not landed yet.
